We need your help!

13th Anniversary Giving Campaign
Keeping the Teaching of Yoga Science Alive

The American Meditation Institute needs your personal involvement
to meet the goals of our Annual Giving Campaign.
The goal is to raise $35,000.

Your donation helps keep Leonard and Jenness's teaching at AMI
available, accessible and affordable to every individual eager to learn.

Dear Friend,

As you may already know, this past spring Leonard's 6-week meditation course (The Heart and Science of Yoga) became the first Yoga Science course of its kind in the country to be accredited for physician's continuing education by the American Medical Association and Albany Medical College. This historic accomplishment, however, could not have been possible without your commitment to the American Meditation Institute. As we enter our 13th year of service, AMI again needs your financial support to keep our comprehensive training of holistic mind-body medicine available, accessible and affordable to every individual eager to learn.

This year we need to raise $35,000.

As a non-profit educational organization, AMI is not financially self-sustaining. Our combined income from current donations, tuition and membership falls far short of the necessary operating expenses to adequately serve our students. In addition, there are no paid AMI staff members, and neither Leonard nor Jenness receive any salary for their work or teaching.

Since 1996, AMI has served over 2,500 students. Your financial support now is crucial to continuing AMI's worthy classes, events and bi-monthly publication of Transformation--The Practical Journal of Yoga Science.

Leonard and Jenness have a unique and highly practical understanding of Yoga's timeless traditions and have crafted a valuable program for implementing the principles of Yoga Science in everyday life. Their vision of building a spiritual community based on Yoga Science has become a vibrant, living reality. Your financial support for 2009-10 is needed to ensure that this sacred, practical and holistic teaching will continue to grow and remain accessible for all interested individuals.

It has been said that giving is the secret to abundance. Your financial contribution will enable AMI to fulfill its mission in the world. Please be as generous as possible and return the enclosed pledge envelope today. Whatever level of contribution you can afford will help immensely.

Thank you for your contribution.

In service--with love,
Melanie Uma Gloeckner, Mary Helen Holloway, Doreen Howe and Peggy Jacob
Board Members, The American Meditation Institute

WHAT IS THE ANNUAL GIVING FUND AND WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

The annual campaign is the major fundraiser for The American Meditation Institute. The goal is to raise or have pledged $35,000 by December 31, 2009.  Remember, your gift is 100 per-cent tax deductible. All contributions go directly into the development of new meditation and yoga programs and the associated operating expenses to bring the benefits of mind-body medicine to more people.

WHY SUPPORT AMI?

Your donation helps to keep classes, workshops, retreats and the AMI speaker's bureau available, accessible and affordable.  Your donation keeps our 6,000 year-old tradition of Yoga Science flourishing in the world.

HOW CAN I MAKE MY GIFT TO THE ANNUAL FUND?

You can make an on-going pledge monthly, quarterly, annually or as a one time gift. If you have any questions, call Elaine at 518.674.8714 or Toll-Free 800.234.5115.

HOW CAN I MAKE MY DONATION GROW?

Check with your employer. Many companies will provide matching funds for their employees.
One final thought: forward or print this letter and pass it on to friends and family who support charitable giving. Every donation counts. Imagine the kind of world we'd live in if everyone were meditating every day.

PLEASE NOTE:  AMI maintains NO paid clerical or administrative staff, and neither Leonard nor Jenness receive any financial compensation for teaching.  All revenues, including gifts, are used exclusively to provide other operational services and to maintain the AMI Home Center for classes, retreats, workshops and counseling.
