By regularly listening to the Conscience
and employing its suggestions in thought, word and deed,
you will directly and positively enhance every relationship you have.
Yoga Science teaches that you can access your own inner wisdom to substantiate, or to refute, any form of hearsay you might be receiving from your Ego, Senses, or Unconscious mind. That’s right—24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days of the year your Conscience is continuously broadcasting unerring wisdom from the Superconscious Mind––like a radio signal––into your conscious mind. The Conscience is the buddhi, or in the language of early Christianity, it’s called the Holy Spirit. The Conscience functions like a mirror: when it’s used regularly to decide what’s to be done and what’s not to be done, it faithfully reflects the wisdom and will of the Supreme Reality (a.k.a. God).
The Conscience allows the conscious mind access to insight from the intuitive library of knowledge within––your Super Conscious Wisdom. When such knowledge enters the conscious mind, no verification of its truthfulness is necessary. When your Conscience speaks, you know what it says is true. The only question that remains is, do you have the will power to align every thought, word and action with the wise and good counsel of the Conscience?
The Superconscious Mind is not a figment of one’s imagination. It’s the same aspect of the mind from which Albert Einstein saw mathematical equations and Paul McCartney hears beautiful melodies. When you earnestly serve the quiet promptings of the Conscience––instead of exclusively serving the limited and habitual perspectives of the Senses, Ego and
Unconscious Mind––the Conscience, operating like a mirror, can reflect an appropriate and useful aspect of Divine Wisdom into your conscious mind.
By regularly listening to the Conscience and employing its suggestions in thought, word and deed, you will directly and positively enhance every relationship you have.
The word Conscience comes from the Latin, and it means “with wisdom or knowledge.” As a Yoga Scientist, you are simply asked to make all your decisions consciously—based on the science of Yoga and on the reliable advice of the Conscience.
The Conscience, or buddhi in Sanskrit enables us to free ourselves from the pains, miseries and bondages created by our learned habits of fear, anger and greed. The Yoga Scientists of long ago explained that each of us has been born to learn how to regularly use this infallible discrimination so that we might transcend the animal habits of our mind––through our capacities, now, as human beings––to unite with the Supreme Consciousness at the core of our being. And in any language, that translates into our ability to experience a happy, healthy, joyful life.
But here’s the challenge. If we continue to accept the overblown promises from the culture, Senses, habits or Ego––without exercising our best judgment as reflected by the Conscience––we will not always receive what was promised. And, if we continue
disregarding our Super Conscious Wisdom, we will inevitably continue to experience forms of physical, mental, emotional or spiritual dis-ease. The only way to know for certain if a particular thought will lead us for our highest and greatest good is to follow the wisdom of the mind’s Conscience. When we employ the Bridge of Yoga and align every thought, word and physical action with our inner wisdom, our lives become increasingly more healthy, happy, creative, productive and free of the dis-ease of stress, anxiety and pain.
And that is my prayer for you––that you come to know, through your own process of experimentation with the tools of Yoga Science, that you have the power to manifest your deepest driving desire. The world needs each one of us to bring our best Self forward. When we teach our minds to serve the highest good and sacrifice the limited Ego or Sense gratifications, become equipped to resolve not only our everyday challenges, but also those weighty challenges that may have previously seemed unresolvable. And the truth is, every time we solve a small challenge creatively at home, we are also preparing ourselves to solve even those large, challenging issues we see and hear about every day through the media. And that includes even the biggest ones.
