A Special Valentine’s Gift for Humanity

Long before there were bodies to inhabit, emotions to name, or stories to tell, Love was already present. Love is not a product of biology, culture, or personal history. It is the most ancient traveler—moving silently from eternity to eternity, unchanged by time, untouched by circumstance.

Yoga Science teaches that Love does not belong to the personality. It precedes it. Love is not something we generate; it is something we participate in when the mind is rightly aligned.

When the mind identifies itself with the body and personality, Love becomes distorted. The same energy that is meant to unite begins to divide. Love contracts into attachment. Care becomes control. Desire hardens into craving. And fear—fear of loss, rejection, or death—enters the field. What was once expansive becomes conditional. What was once healing becomes a source of suffering.

This is not because Love has failed us, but because the mind has mistaken its identity.

Yoga Science explains that the mind has four functions: the Ego, the Senses, the Unconscious, and the Conscience. When the Ego dominates—insisting “I am this body, this role, this history”—Love is forced to express itself through limitation. It becomes personal, possessive, and fragile. The Senses then seek pleasure from Love. The Unconscious replays old wounds through Love. And what is infinite tries to flow through a narrowed channel.

But Love itself remains pure.

When the mind is re-educated and re-aligned—when identification shifts from the body to the Self—Love is freed. Not intensified, not manufactured, but released from bondage. In that freedom, Love no longer needs to grasp, prove, or protect itself. It becomes steady. Intelligent. Discriminating. Strong.

This is why Yoga Science does not teach us to “create more love,” but to remove the obstructions that prevent Love from flowing naturally.

The Conscience plays a central role in this process. When the mind becomes quiet enough to listen, the Conscience reflects Superconscious Wisdom—guidance that is always loving, always intelligent, and always in service of the highest good. When thought, word, and deed are aligned with that guidance, Love expresses Itself as clarity instead of confusion, courage instead of fear, and compassion instead of sentimentality.

Love then becomes a healing force—not only emotionally, but physically and spiritually. It restores coherence to the nervous system. It dissolves inner conflict. It reunites us with our deeper purpose. Love heals because it reconnects us with what is whole.

Seen from this perspective, Love is not an emotion among other emotions. It is the source energy from which all emotions arise. When filtered through ignorance, it appears as fear, anger, greed, jealousy, or despair. When allowed to flow through wisdom, it appears as patience, forgiveness, strength, creativity, and peace.

Love has traveled through every age, every culture, every form of life. It has witnessed the rise and fall of civilizations, the birth and death of stars, the endless turning of the wheel of karma. It is never in a hurry. It does not demand belief. It waits—for the mind to become still enough, humble enough, present enough—to recognize it.

When we stop asking Love to serve our personality and allow our personality to serve Love, something extraordinary happens. Life itself becomes an expression of care, intelligence, and purpose. Action becomes clean. Relationships become spacious. And even in difficulty, Love does not abandon us—it instructs us.

Love is the Most Ancient Traveler.

It has never left us.

It has only been waiting for us to remember who we are.
