Calculating Burnout

What is the cost of physician burnout? Now hospitals and practices can take a hard look at the financial impact by using an online physician burnout calculator created by the American Medical Association (AMA).

Data shows that it costs between $500,000 and $1 million to replace an existing physician. According to Christine Sinsky, MD, FACP, vice president of professional satisfaction at the American Medical Association (AMA) and practicing general internist, “This is a conservative figure. Ayurveda: The World’s Oldest Mind/Body Medicine

Ayurveda means “the science of life.” As the world’s oldest mind/body medicine, Ayurveda considers our individual human existence, health and dis-ease in holistic terms––inseparable from the intrinsic cosmic unity of consciousness, energy and matter. Therefore, in order to determine what makes an individual body healthy, the first practitioners of Ayurveda studied the laws and interrelatedness of the cosmos. Perlmutter goes on to dispel another meditation myth. “Meditation is not meant to eliminate thoughts,” he explains. “It simply teaches you to direct the mind’s mental traffic.” Read the full article to get more tips on where, when and how to meditate.
